Outdoor cat houses offer protection from the elements and a safe haven for your kitty. Many people like to leave their cats outdoors, but never think about putting a cat house outside for them. The costs of these types of cat houses are usually pretty reasonable, depending on what you are actually looking for. The more complex and better the materials, the higher the price will rise, obviously.

You can find an outdoor cat house made from wood, plastic, composite materials and even nylon. Some of them are portable and can be folded easily, while others have to be built and kept in one spot. I have done a little research to give you a quick idea of what is available:

KatKabin Outdoor Cat House (Brinsea products) – the Katkabin offers an ideal mix of comfort and protection for your cat. It is designed to withstand all of the elements, including cold Winters and it even comes with a washable cushion. This usually runs right around $100 at most online stores.

Petmate Kitty Kat Condo – this shelter is shaped like a dome and is also perfect for both Summer and Winter use. It has a carpeted floor your cat can lounge around on, or scratch away to his or her content. It has specially designed foam to keep your cat cool or warm, depending on the season.

17 Inch Cedar Cat House (Blythe Woodworks) – made specifically for cats, this wooden house is a little on the expensive side at $270, but it offers the optimal in comfort and protection for your cat. While it says it is easy to assemble, many reviewers found the instructions were incomplete and difficult to follow.

If you plan on having your cat outdoors in just the warmer months, you can find a decent portable outdoor cat house made from nylon for right around $30.
